132 Headache Medicine, v.7, n.4, p.132, Oct./Nov./Dec. 2016
n this issue we have the opportunity to read articles representing
some of the best studies submitted to the XXX Brazilian Congress of
Headache held at Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, in October 2016, and
selected for oral presentation. The highlight of the congress was the
unprecedented quality of the presentations, not only by our Brazilian
colleagues but also by the invited guest speakers from abroad. New forms
of treatment to combat headache were discussed at great length. The
advances in technology over the past few years have profoundly impacted
the way we are now treating our patients with headache. This can be
clearly seen when we are investigating our patients using sophisticated
neuroimaging techniques, indicating neurostimulation devices, or even
when employing state-of-the-art pharmacotherapy such as CGRP
antibodies.
During the congress we also had the opportunity to discuss how our
financially underprivileged SUS patients can benefit, in the absence of
access to these new technologies, using the drugs regularly encountered
in public institutions.
